The Lord has truly helped us the last few months in the ministry. Even though we have faced some low numbers because of a busy tourist season here in the islands, we have remained faithful to what God has called us to do.
February, we were busy working on getting things ready for the tent meeting and giving out flyers inviting folks to the meeting. We had hoped to get more flyers out than we did, but we were able to get over 1,000 flyers and tracts to the houses around the church. We continued to work on the church building making small repairs and doing a little more painting.
March was the kick off for our tent meeting and we were blessed to have averaged nearly 50 each night. Bro. Chris Hewett preached all but 4 services and did a tremendous job. We had 10 people make professions of faith, 7 men and 3 ladies. One man, Mr. Alexander, came in Saturday night before church. We spoke to him for about 15 minutes before service and after church he told Pastor Mitchall that he needed to be saved. We honestly didn’t know what to think because he was a little drunk. Since that night, he was at every service, helped us take the tent down, was there for church and has stopped drinking. Please continue to pray for him as we work with him and his family. His little girl has admitted she needs to be saved.
The church planting efforts here in Bequia have proven to be a very slow, yet rewarding, ministry. Many people here are steeped in religion, trusting in their baptism, good works, holy days, and even blinded by their so called “prophets”. I truly believe that God is doing some great things in the hearts and lives of people here in Bequia and we are excited about one day reaching out to the other islands. God just recently sent in all the funds to cover our tent meetings for this year in Bequia AND enough was given to take the tent down to Canouan and Union once we return from Furlough! (PRAISE THE LORD!)
April is our last month here in Bequia before our furlough. We will be returning to the states to raise our much needed monthly support. Another pastor here will be continuing two of our services during the week and we are thankful for his help. Please pray that we will be able to get our support raised quickly. We would like to be back in the islands and the ministry here in Bequia and the surrounding islands as soon as possible. There are also several needs that we have as we come in. Please pray with us about these needs.
- We are in need of a van or suburban to travel (seating for 6) by May 2nd
- Support, we are below 70%. Please pray for churches to partner with us.
- Pray for Mckenzie’s and the baby’s health as we travel. (baby due the end of July)
- We will be meeting with a man this month concerning land for the church.
