It is a joy to write to you again. The last few months have been a blessing and encouraging to us here in Bequia. We have been working here in Bequia ministering and preaching the Gospel. Tuesday evening, July 4th, we received the keys to our new church location. Wednesday morning, I began cleaning up the inside, removing walls. We were able to meet that same night for our first service and had 3 first time visitors with a total of 14 in all.
Saturday, July 8th, two men came over from St. Vincent to help with work. They spent 4 days working with me to get the yard area cleaned up, burning off brush and much of the termite eaten wood. Although things are beginning to look better, we still have a ways to go.
Several have asked how they can help in the upcoming days, and honestly the major thing holding us back is the need for materials. We have access to men that are willing and able to volunteer their time from the main island of St Vincent if we have materials for them to work with. We need financial support to be able to get these materials.
Our current projects are cleaning the walls so that we will be able to paint. We have ordered a pressure washer, because we will need it for several things around the property and we are better off to purchase this than attempting to rent it here. There are two support columns that we must reinforce once we have the funds for the blocks and cement. Once this wall is complete, we will finish the painting inside and eventually add flooring.
Another phase in our project will be an outside building that will be great for a Sunday School building/Children’s Church area. This building will require a new roof before we can use it.
Even with all the work that must go on with the building, we are thankful that the owners are willing to let us work on and use the building without rent, as long as we repair and maintain the house and property.
*Looking ahead
~The end of this month we will be working with another church and assisting with their VBS. We will be taking some kids from our side of the island over to participate in the the services and activities.
~We are planning on having a tent meeting next year here in Bequia ,and have been praying about having a tent meeting on a nearby island as the Lord supplies.
