We praise the Lord for all that he has done in the last few months. God has been working in our hearts and lives as we preach and share the gospel here in Bequia. The country that we are working in is a very religious country, Bequia has many places that claim to be a church but according to the Bible they are not, so the ministry here is slow as we spend much time working through many misunderstood doctrines.
The last month we have been working in two churches here in Bequia. First, the church plant in Paget Farm is progressing very slowly. Many people have been interested in coming to church once we have a place to meet but are very reluctant to come to someone’s home for church. We are currently preaching in Paget Farm on Sunday nights and Wednesday nights with an average of about 12 in attendance. We have recently finished with an overview of the Bible and our memory verse has been Psalms 11:3 "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?"
Since the first of October we have been filling in for the pastor of Gospel Light Baptist Church. He and his wife returned to Trinidad for the birth of their second child and they expect to return to Bequia and their ministry here in early December. We have started on Thursday nights teaching through the covenants that God made with man in the Bible, and preaching Sunday mornings as well. The church is doing well and they have had about 20 people that come regularly Sunday morning, with the last few weeks bringing in about 6 first time visitors.
In our last letter we asked you to pray about the need of getting a tent and chairs, I’m excited to let you know that God has supplied us with a 30x50 tent for $1500, 100 folding chairs for $500 and a brand new generator for $250. Right now, all of our equipment is being stored at a friend’s home near Atlanta, GA and will be shipped in November. We are trying to get all the little odd and end items ordered and then we will have things packed and shipped. We are still in need of $1,000 towards the shipping and customs expenses, on these larger items we can expect to pay 45% of the cost of the item plus shipping, then we will need to have them put on a truck and brought over on the ferry from St. Vincent to Bequia.
We are still finalizing some information on the land that we will put the tent on, so please make this an urgent matter of prayer in the next coming weeks. We have been praying and asking God about two different pieces of land that would work great for the tent and later the church building. We want to make the right decision and have the land that God wants us to have, please pray as we need God to work out all the details in this matter.
Family update: The kids are all doing well. Malachi has started doing some homeschool work and enjoys learning how things work. Katie is growing too fast and goes to pre-school during the week. She loves going to school and learning. Emily just turned one and is walking and learning more words and ,of course, getting into everything. Mckenzie and myself are doing well but, as always, we ask that you keep us in your prayers as we minister here to the people of Bequia.
IN Christ
